DAY AFTER DRDO chief’s ouster, here is what top govt sources told me about its future

Here is what the government intends to do with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

1. Want to effect deep rooted changes in the way DRDO IS MANAGED

2. Have no ill will for Dr. Avinash Chander. He will serve till his time ends on January 31

3. If govt wanted to remove, it would have been done with immediate effect

4. DEPENDING ON WHAT GOVT RULES PERMIT, WANT TO SPLIT DRDO POST FROM that of SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR TO DEFENCE MINISTER

5. ON FIRST OF FEBRUARY, SENIOR MOST CLUSTER HEAD OF DRDO WILL TAKE OVER TILL WE FIND A REPLACEMENT

6. We have A PROBLEM ABOUT PEOPLE of such an old age occupying such a high chair

  1. If people of such old age cant occupy a high chair, what of Modi himself? I am a BJP supporter and voter, but I will be watching Modi closely over the next years to see how he treats national institutions. This is the second case in which he has treated a respected individual and organization shabbily. In Kashmir, to prop up his election campaign he unnecessarily made comments about how he had the Army investigate its own troops. Now this attack on Shri Chander and an already demoralized DRDO. Mr Modi needs to understand there is a line between decisiveness and authoritarianism. India wants the former, not the latter.

So, what do you think about it?
