IAF’s premier airbase at Lohegaon, Pune has a new boss

Air Commodore Surat Singh VM VSM took over as Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Lohegaon, Pune on 08 Apr 2013.


He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Cmde Surat Singh was commissioned into Fighter Stream of the IAF on 06 Dec 1986. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Command & Staff College. The Air Officer has flown various fighter aircrafts of the Indian Air Force. He has a rich experience of operational flying, training and staff assignment and has flown over 2800 hrs on MiG-21, MiG-29 and SU-30 MK-I.

He has commanded a MiG-29 Squadron, prestigious War Fighting Establishment Tactical Air Combat Development and Establishment -TACDE and 505 Signal Unit- SU, AF. The Air Officer served as Director at Directorate of Air Staff Inspection for two years before being appointed as Air Officer Commanding 2 Wing, Air Force. He has been conferred with Vayu Sena Medal and Vishist Seva Medal for his exemplary and distinguished service.

The Air Officer is married to Mrs Nisha Singh and blessed with two children, daughter Monil and son Abhimanyu.
